Liaoning University wins the ICC Moot Court Competition (Chinese edition).

Today, July 10, 2026, Liaoning University won the Chinese edition of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition. The final round took place in Courtroom I of the ICC in The Hague. Peking University School of Transnational Law and the China University of Political Science and Law took second and third place, respectively. The award for best advocate went to Xinrui Fang of Peking University School of Transnational Law.

ICC Judge Keebong Paek served as chair of the competition’s jury. The members of the winning team are Su Bojia, Ma Haitian, Fan Bingqian, Liu Meirui, Wang Qiran, Wen Jiale, and Zhao Meitong.

The teams competed against each other in a mock case and presented oral arguments in the roles of the Office of the Prosecutor, the defense, and the representative of the State. The competition was broadcast live via the Court’s website and Facebook account.

The 2026 edition of the ICC Moot Court Competition will be organized by Leiden University and the Chinese Initiative on International Law. A total of 130 universities participated in the preliminary round of this year’s competition.

The ICC Moot Court Competitions are part of the ICC’s academic program and are held in English, Spanish, French, and Chinese. In addition, plans are being considered to organize an Arabic edition in the future. These initiatives play an important role in increasing interest in the Court’s work within academic communities and in promoting knowledge of and respect for international criminal law.
